A progress review meeting on projects implemented under the financial allocations provided to the Ministry of Health in the current Budget was held yesterday afternoon (6) at the Presidential Secretariat, under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Disanayake.
The discussion focused on the progress of projects related to infrastructure development, including construction works and human resource development within the health sector. The challenges encountered in implementing these projects were also discussed at length.
Attention was also drawn to the procurement process for medicines and the challenges associated with the standardisation of pharmaceuticals.
Minister of Health and Mass Media Dr Nalinda Jayatissa; Secretary to the President Dr Nandika Sanath Kumanayake; Secretary to the Ministry of Finance Mahinda Siriwardena; Secretary to the Ministry of Health and Mass Media Dr Anil Jasinghe; Senior Additional Secretaries to the President Russell Aponso and Kapila Janaka Bandara; along with officials from the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Health, were present at the meeting.
