Air India Ahmedabad Plane Crash - Gujarat ATS recovers DVR from AI-171 crash site

An Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner, operating as Flight AI171 from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick, crashed shortly after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on the afternoon of June 12, 2025.

The aircraft, carrying 242 people including 230 passengers and 12 crew members, crashed in the Meghani area, sparking a massive fire intensified by the plane's heavy fuel load.
Emergency services, including six NDRF teams, fire engines, ambulances, and police units, were quickly mobilised for rescue operations.
A MAYDAY call was issued before contact was lost.

Union Home minister Amit Shah said nearly 1,000 DNA tests are being conducted to identify victims. He said the massive fire from over 1.2 lakh litres of fuel left no chance of survival for most on board.
